Ice skater Daniel Harries, will call
Canada home for the next three months as the rejuvenated talent
starts a long-range assault on the 2006 Winter Olympics.
The former Runcorn resident jetted
out of Brisbane earlier this month for the Four Continents Cup
in Hamilton.
Harries returned from a 12-month layoff
to compete at the Australian Figure Skating titles in Brisbane
last year, where he came away with a silver medal and scholarship
to train at the Olympic Winter Institute in Germany.
Widely recognised as the hottest natural
talent in Australian male skating ranks, Harries was one of only
three Australian men selected to compete for world rankings at
the Four Continents Cup.
Australia is taking on the host nation,
America, South Africa and Asia.
Renowned Canadian skating mentor Jan
Ullmarch, the man who coached the 2002 Winter Olympics gold-medal
pairs winners, will be responsible for Harries' push for selection.
