ACACIA Ridge-based
Sean Carlow, the current Australian Junior Men's Figure Skating
Champion, took the bronze medal at the sixth Merano Cup in Italy
earlier this month.
Formerly from Sydney, the 18-year-old
has moved to Brisbane to train under coach Colin Jackson at Acacia
Ridge Iceworld.
Spokeswoman Chris Michie said Carlow
had recently been accepted as a member of the Queensland association
and would represent his new State at the Nationals in Brisbane
later in the year.
"Colin, meanwhile, is in Europe
with Miriam Manzano, the senior ladies champion," Michie
said.
"She won gold in Merano and last
week came from fourth in the short program to take the bronze
medal at the Finlandia Trophy.
"I believe she landed six triples
in her freeskate, competing against a strong, experienced field
of athletes so she and Colin should now be heading off to Vienna
with a lot of confidence. She has placed at this comp before,
so here's hoping."
