Star on the rise
Souther Star
16th October 2002

IF breeding and background counts, then Tina Wang is destined to become an international figure skating star.

The 10-year-old from Acacia Ridge is the daughter of internationally-renowned coaches Andrew and Helen Wang and has been personally tutored by her parents since she was eight.

By the time she is 16, Tina should be competing at senior international level.

Already Tina has shown she has an enormous career in the sport. At the recent Queensland Figure Skating Championships, Tina took out the award for artistic excellence.

She won the primary grade at the 2001 nationals and moved up to intermediate in time for the state titles this year.

Despite her tender years, Tina already exhibits the dedication necessary to match her natural talent. She trains six days a week at Iceworld, Acacia Ridge, with two hours a session spent on the ice and three hours focusing on ballet and gym work.
