Master class on ice

THE coaching expertise of Colin Jackson and performing skills of Pimpama's Robert McNamara will be on show before the ice skating world in Beijing, China, next week.

Mr Jackson has been invited by the International Skating Union to the junior coaching seminar which involves the union's 54 member countries.

"Coaches were invited to take a student 14 or under to the seminar, so I'm taking Robert," he said. "He will be demonstrating before the seminar what I've been able to teach him."

Mr Jackson, who was former mentor to Winter Olympians Steffi Zhang and Anthony Liu, said his young charge had a bright future in the sport:

"He has come a long way in the last 12 months. He has all the good ingredients to make an elite skater."

Robert trains under Mr Jackson at Iceworld Logan City at Loganholme.
